WASHINGTON D.C.

I submitted the findings of my thesis to a professional conference, Experimental Biology, and was invited to attend the conference to explain a poster of my findings to the attendees. This year the conference was in Washington, D.C. Mike decided, being a difficult decision and all, that he would accompany me and support me in presenting my poster. The best part is that I get funding to pay for most of the trip!! We spent Friday and Saturday seeing the monuments and museums. Friday was raining and cold, and Saturday was cold. It was during the cherry blossom festival but because of the weather it wasn't too busy. Sunday we went to church with one of my friends from my childhood. I hadn't seen her in about 5 years. She and her husband and daughter met us at the Cherry Blossom Parade on Saturday morning and then had us over for lunch before going to church on Sunday. It was really great to get caught up with her. The ironic thing is that her visiting teaching companion is one of my good friends from my mission whom I haven't seen for a couple of years. They ended up inviting us over for dinner after church. Talk about a small world. Monday we spent at the conference before flying out that evening. Mike and I both fell in love with D.C. and would love to return/live there some day.

SISTERS

I few weeks ago my oldest sister, Donna, and her family came to town. Since two of my sisters live nearby, the four of us and Donna's two oldest girls had a girls night out. We had pedicures and bought Hawaiian ices. It was a lot of fun. I wish Donna would visit more often so we can do it again.
