The kids had their yearly eye exam. Alex's prescription has changed slightly every year so it wasn't a surprise when she needed new glasses. Shane's eyes are slightly far sighted. The doctor said it wasn't necessary to get him glasses but that he could benefit from reading glasses, especially if they had a blue light filter for screens. Since he is on the computer so much and does so much reading we decided to get him some glasses as well. The kids look so cute in their new glasses.

MCKENZIE HOME
It was different and sad to not have visitors in the hospital. We were able to do some video chats with the kids so they got to see McKenzie. They were sure excited when they could hold her. She is going to be very loved.
SHANE LOSES HIS FIRST TOOTH
The day we got home from the hospital Shane said his tooth was loose and ready to come out. Mike tied floss to his tooth and then taped it to a ball. The first time Shane threw it the floss came off his tooth. The second time was a success, except that it took us a few minutes to find the tooth.

MCKENZIE'S BIRTH
This pregnancy has definitely been the hardest pregnancy so far. I am grateful for the pandemic that allowed me to stay home and rest. Mike was able to work from home and help me. I was able to teach my class from home. I have gained so much weight and am so swollen with water retention. My blood pressure started to rise and it made my doctor nervous. At my last doctor's appointment he encouraged me to move the c-section up and it was re-scheduled for April 23rd. What a significant day! We suddenly only had a few days instead of a few weeks to prepare. My mom was in Wisconsin visiting my sister and wasn't able to come to help out with the kids. Instead, we flew Mike's mom out and she arrived the night before. The morning of the c-section we sent the older kids off to school and headed for the hospital. Everything went smoothly and McKenzie Louise was born at 11:44am. She weighed a whopping 11 pounds 5 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. She was a beautiful baby with a full head of long brown hair. We were so excited to finally meet her. Everything went well and we were able to go home 2 days later.

We wanted to get ice cream on April 23rd to remember Papa and Peter. Since Mike and I will be in the hospital we decided to get some ice cream the day before.

FANCY DINNER
For Easter Alex requested that we have an extra fancy dinner. We brought out the table cloth and cloth napkins. We let the kids have glass plates and cups. We even had sparkling cider. They loved it.
MESSY MESSY
When eating their Easter candy the kids' faces got really messy. They thought it was funny and wanted a picture.
